Our Mission

We are becoming and developing

disciples of Jesus Christ.

Our Beliefs

We Believe:
  • in one supreme God, personified as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 45:5, Matthew 4:10),
  • in salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8, John 3:16)
  • the belief in repentance and the forgiveness of sins through faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38),
  • that as Christians, we are all one in Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:28)
  • in the power of prayer (Matthew 21:22)
  • that the Bible is the divinely inspired word of God (2 Timothy 3:16)
  • in the priesthood of the believer (each believer is empowered to interpret Scripture as led by the Holy Spirit and speak directly to God with no mediator except Jesus Christ) (Luke 23:45b)
  • in witnessing to all, Christian and non-Christian, presenting Jesus Christ to the world as Savior and Lord (Acts 1:8),
  • in the freedom of worship and religious expression in a free society (Matthew 22:21b, Acts 5:29)
  • in the ordinances of Baptism and The Lord’s Supper (Matthew 26:26-28, 28:19),
  • in good stewardship/obedience, becoming more Christ like as led by the Holy Spirit (James 1:22, Matt 25),

Our Values

  • God

God is our Creator, Savior and Sustainer. He is the focus of our worship and service. Apart from Him we are nothing.

  • People

People matter to God; therefore, they matter to us. We love and care for all people and families and seek to serve them and share with them the Good News of Jesus.

  • The Bible

The Bible is our source for life. It leads us, guides us and authorizes us to go forward as Jesus' disciples.

  • Making Disciples

Making disciples is what God has called us to do. We will be intentional in our witness of the Good News of Jesus Christ and committed to teaching others to do the same.

  • Real Relationships

Real relationships honor God through love, encouragement, and service.

  • Service

We serve our community and the nations by meeting physical needs through acts of kindness and spiritual needs through sharing the Gospel with people.

Our History

First Baptist has its roots firmly connected with Texas A&M University. In 1923, Rev. R. L. Brown started our church to help provide a worship, education, and ministry setting for the students, faculty, and staff. Initial meetings were held in Guion Hall of A&M. The church then moved into it's first building in the Northgate area of A&M. In 1986, the church relocated to it's present home at 2300 Welsh Avenue in order to continue and broaden it's reach to the communities of Bryan/College Station and the ever growing student population that lives off-campus.
